Job Description: Laborer – Grounds Maintenance

Job Summary: The Laborer – Grounds Maintenance is responsible for the upkeep, care, and overall maintenance of the grounds, ensuring that landscapes, lawns, and gardens remain clean, well maintained, and visually appealing. This role plays a vital part in preserving both the aesthetic quality and safety of the outdoor areas. Key Responsibilities: Lawn & Turf Maintenance: • Mow, edge, and trim lawns using power mowers and hand tools. • Monitor lawn health and report any issues such as dry patches, overgrowth, or invasive species. • Collect and properly dispose of leaves, litter, and debris from landscaped areas, sidewalks, and parking lots. Plant & Landscape Care: • Water, prune, fertilize, and transplant flowers, shrubs, and trees as needed. • Maintain landscape beds by mulching, weeding, and planting seasonal plants. • Assist with landscape improvement projects, including installing new plants, redesigning beds, or creating walkways. Equipment Use & Maintenance • Operate and perform routine maintenance on landscaping tools and equipment. • Ensure tools and machinery are properly stored, cleaned, and in safe operating condition. Safety & Compliance • Follow all safety procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE). • Maintain clean and hazard-free pathways, entrances, and high-traffic areas. • Identify and report hazards or maintenance issues to the supervisor. • Adhere to company policies and environmental regulations for waste disposal and chemical use. Work Environment: This position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind. The role is physically demanding, involving standing, walking, bending, and lifting heavy objects. Grounds Maintenance Laborers may interact with visitors and must always maintain a respectful and professional demeanor.
